Midterm

Q1: a) Describe your favorite restaurant.
My favorite restaurant is MEAT GQ, actually it's a steak house. Although it's a little expensive. But all the meal it offers are really delicious. Every staff member looks professional, they can serve customer carefully. The atmosphere in the restaurant is peaceful and it can really make me relax and just focus on the meal and enjoy it. Also the meat beef, steak just like the name, MEAT  is really GOOD Quality, and tasty. Especially I had a great meal there for the first anniversary with my boyfriend. It also left us with a good impression, so now we are gonna go there to celebrate every anniversary.

Q2 a) Compare with getting married and staying single.
Getting married, it depends on you find the one and the only in your lifetime, already, and from now on you're almost together most of the time, especially you may have baby and your life still goes on. There are two or more important people show in your life, like wife, husband, or child, you must have less time to think about yourself, because there are others what makes you care more than yourself. But if you're single, everything changes, all you need to worry about is yourself, you can do whatever you want, go wherever you like, buy anything you want, most importantly, you can love who ever you want . The choice is not only your wife, husband, or child. You can have all the freedom, but still sometimes you have to overcome your loneliness, because there is no one who can be with you no matter what's your felling. So that's a strong contrast and difference between getting married and staying single. People can always choose the life they want.

Q3 a)

If I work at this place, I can meet all the people from from different countries. Most importantly, I have a lot of  passion for this job, I would like to meet and serve people, also I have some administrative experience from my last job, I can use organizational and planning skills in the future. I'm sure that I can do well on it. I'm the person who love to go traveling, this job can also fly me to wherever I want to go, it's convenient for me. Although it;s a adventure for me, because it's what I have never done, and experience, but I know there will be the training period, and I'm sure that I'll be successful.

Taiwan Life VS America

Compare our daily life with America, there are lots of differences between this two. Transportation is the first problem we need to face everyday. How to go to the school or work?  In America there is hardly to get the traffic problem, because the only thing they need to solve is how to arrive the destination, the directest way is drive or take the bus. If  you live in the city is more convenient to take the subway. But in Taiwan, here are much more people in the small area then America. If you want to drive the car or ride the scooter you probably may have the problem of traffic jam, so you can try to take the bus or mrt, for short destination, train, or even high speed rail if you need to go somewhere far. Or choose to take the taxi when you are in the urgent situation. Exactly, is easier to go everywhere in Taiwan and have more choices of transportation than in America.

Next, I think that's maybe the problem of transportation, so buying lots of groceries at one time is more helpful for them. But in Taiwan, is pretty convenient to get the food, so most of people won't do this. Cause we have traditional market almost everywhere, people can get any groceries you can think from there, and they're absolutely fresh. As we can see, compare with Taiwanese, American's food is something not healthy, they eat junk food most of the time, and also can. These are not a big deal I think, but the main point is that Americans love everything in the big size, even they have most kinds of food in super huge size, bigger is better, that's what they think. But this will totally not gonna happen in Taiwan. Taiwan not prefer the food in big size, but there are many little snacks, especially you can see many street food vendors. This's how different between Taiwanese and American's food style.

Another strong contrast between this two is about the system of education, and what students usually do after school. In Taiwan, people put much study pressure on students since elementary school from senior high, parents always sent their children to cram school after school, that's also make children come home late. Students always have lots of subjects to study, and test all the time. But it's so strange that's everything become much more easier to apply for a college, isn't it the most important part of education in your lifetime? Compare with America, people could never image this kind of education, what they care is which learning way is best for their children, or even they help them to fine out the way by themselves in the early stage. There are no any cram school in America, people prefer to give more outdoor activities for their children and for themselves also. It's really a contrast between Taiwan, like is more difficult to apply college in America, if you want the top college in America you really need to do super splendid, but if you want the top college in Taiwan, you don't need to pay the same effort in America to get it.

Concluding, there is not always a perfect place to live, only the way or living style is most suitable for you. So I don't want to compare which one is better, just to list what difference between these two. People still need to figure out which one is better for themselves.

Do you know any teenage mothers? Was there a shotgun wedding? Do you think that it is possible for a teenager to successfully raise a child?

I knew some of teenage mothers, actually I have no comment about them. But I want to say that the society put them too much pressure and use the different way looking at them. They are as same as every normal mothers. Especially, they are teenagers is much more difficult to make any decision about their life. Undoubtedly, they paid the price, but this can't make sure that they will regret in the one day, because they just pay the hard time first, when their children grew up, they are not too old to spend time with their children. So it depends on many different situation, the most important thing is that you try not to make your life regret. I only heard one shotgun wedding, that's my schoolmate of elementary school and I'm not so close to that girl. I think that is possible for a teenager to successfully raise a child, but actually is the teenager's family to raise the child. How successfully raise a child it depends on how rich the family is, because raising a child need much money. If the parents can't even live well, how about the child?

The Most Memorable Travel Experience in America.

I have been America for a month when I was 16. That was a home stay program in Oregon. I spent three weeks for the class and had so much fun in the last week. The life in America was totally different from Taiwan. Everywhere as you can see is very large-scale, everything must have the super large size. The people there I met were my home parents and their three children, they show me much hospitality until I leave their house. In the shortly three weeks I also gain weight, because the food style there were alway hamburger, french fries, cans fruit, especially I ate ice cream almost everyday. That's why I gain weight.

The class in Oregon is quite interesting, especially there were many activites after class. For example, we went to pick blueberries at a lovely farm. After that my home mom used the blueberries I picked, made the blueberry pie, that's the most delicious pie I have ever ate. Besides, we also had a wonderful day out in Washington, to visit the volcano, have a picnic, and boat riding there. This kind of activity is unusual in Taiwan. I appreciated every scenery I have seen. Another memorable experience was the national day of Unite States. Everyone walked on the street, and showed the flag on their bodies joined the parade of celebration, this pleasure atmospher just continue all day long on July 4 until the fireworks finished at night.

After three weeks life in Oregon, next stop we were in Portland. Shopping at the woodburn outlet, everyone had good time at there, one of the reason is" TAX-FREE" . Then we arrived at California, it's totally different from Oregon. Too much memory in this state.Everything I had seen just on the picture, but when you are in California, everything came alive. It was my first time visit Disney Land and Universal Studio, this two places would be the dream one for   every children, I'm no exception, and I was so excited for that. Hollywood is also the good one that we didn't miss. Next magnificent place is Grand Canyon National Park, when I was in there that made  me feel that I'm so tinny of myself. That is the view that I'll never forget in my mimd. The last one is also the most favorite for me, Las Vegas. When I walked on the street in Las Vegas I even had no word to describe the city. Every constructure beside the street is gorgeous even the people. I was too young to gambling, but if I have the chance to visit again. I'll do something crazy and stay longer in this city, won't make myself regret any more.

I'm grateful to my Daddy, because of him that I can had this incredible trip in U.S. Everything happened, everyone I met, and everywhere I went were the best nutrient of my lifetime. People can't stop traveling, because is the directest way to know yourself and seeing how beautiful of life and world. After traveling, you will know that where will you come back but where won't, then you will fine out the best way of your daily life and the most comfortable place you live. Traveling is the thing that I will never stop to do in my lifetime, hope everyone can live their ideal life and keep traveling.

5 People I Talked Today

There are 5 people I talked during the writing class today. The first person I met is Rita. She have been my classmate since three years ago. There are quit familiar between me and her. We have the same lovely hometown, Kaohsiung. She is a person who has great willing to join any kinds of activities and clubs which she interest in. For example, she love coffee so she joined the coffee club. She love to do her favorite sport, basketball in her free time, watching TV, and movie are also what she will do. She studied Spanish for her second language. The food she dislike are eggplant and loofah.

The second person I talked is Andy. He is Rita's boyfriend. He comes from Taipei, dancing is the sport that can make him feel relax. The second language he studied is Japanese, but he didn't mention about anything of Japan. He watched the movie  Mission Impossible recently and we loved it. There are two sister and parents in his family members.

The third person is Sam. He lives in Taichung, and there are two sisters, parents, and two little cats in his family. He is single now, I hope he can find his true love soon, cause I think he is a kind guy. He loves Japanese food such as sashimi. He have been America once before, and studied at there for a period of time, he also visited Thailand. He is an out-going person. He tried to make a cold joke sometimes, that makes me feel boring, but he must be a great one in the party.

The forth is Brain. Basketball is his favorite sport, he told me that his basketball skill is very well, but   I have no interest in it, no one can improve what he said is true. The other thing about him, he is single until now, almost two years past when he had girlfriend last time. One of the reason that he don't want to get a girlfriend is because he is afraid of having girlfriend. But I think he can't get the girl and no girl like her that make more sense. Even he is in the same class with me, but actually he is elder than me. He studied Japanese as his second language.

The last one I talked is Chiao, he comes form Taichung. He is different from other boy I talked, his favorite sport is baseball. He has a huge family member, two sisters, one brother, parents, and grandparents. The music style he loves is hip-hop. In all the food, he prefer bananas. He had been many countries, some of them are impress to him, like America, Korea, and Thailand. Today is first time I met him. I think he is a cool guy. I hope to spent the great time during the class with everyone.

The Changes of University Level Education in The Next 25 Years.

What will be the change of university level education in the next 25 years? In Taiwan, there are less and less people get married in recent year, that means less and less children will born to the world. However, the couple got married, but raising children are too much pressure for them one of the main reason is that they have no enough money to raise the baby. It's the serious point that why so many couples do not bear the baby. Even it's not because of the economy, there are still many couples choose to be Dinky.

Above all, how to make sense that there are more universities than students? The first change of university is that lots of campus will be disappeared, because every college can't afford the large costs of  the manpower and material. It's easy to to say : no student no income.

The most unprecedented change is that there are no more schools not only universities in the next 25 years. Absolutely, campus will be replace by the Internet, students just need a computer, then there are endless classes to provide people to learn. Every school will have their own website, students can  learn by themselves anywhere anytime. It's not one way learning but you can also interact with professor online. It's long-distance education, there are much more benifit then students just stay in the classroom and learning. For example, if there are wheat you can understand immediately, with long-distance education, you can just stop, keep listening and reading until you got it. Or you want to increase your knowledge that how's the teaching material of other college even it's aboard, you just need to click your keyboard. Won't it be pretty convenient of university level education? Let's look after 25 years latter.
